Our Fourth Project
Supporting the Tamokshi Co-operative Hospital, Nepal
For our fourth project, completed in the summer of 2018, The Little Things decided to support a hospital in rural Nepal.
Professor Satyan Rajbhandari is a Consultant Physician in Diabetes & Endocrinology. Professor Rajbhandari visited Nepal in May 2017, and on behalf of The Little Things assessed three potential hospitals. Following his recommendation, we decided to support Tamakoshi Co-operative Hospital in Manthali.
Unlike other hospitals in Nepal, Tamakoshi Co-operative Hospital is run independently without any interference from the government or politicians. The hospital provides cheap treatment by 3 dedicated doctors and is financially sustained by a local NGO.
The hospital wanted to provide specialist cardiology and gastroenterology service to the community so that local people do not have to travel for basic investigations. The Little Things has enabled this by purchasing an upper GI endoscope and echocardiogram, along with other smaller equipment.
Having completed our project in Nepal, our plan is to continue using our wide network of doctors and volunteers to communicate with hospitals in developing countries and continue assisting them in improving their services by providing vital medical equipment.
